Its Founder and Origin
The Reverend Garnet Kingsley Morrison was born in the Island of Jamaica, West Indies, Saint Andrew, Paisley District. He began his formal education at Paisley All Age School. As a young man, in 1978, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the Bible Truth Church of God in Jamaica, West Indies and due to his dedication and commitment as a servant in the Ministry; in 1980, he was ordained a Junior Minister by his grandfather the late Bishop Norman Hawthorne, Presiding Bishop of the Bible Truth Church of God, Jamaica, West Indies.
Migrating to the United States in 1981 has been a turning point in the life of Garnet both in the ministry and personally. While preparing for the ministry, he has completed numerous studies in different areas of the Ministry, including Leadership training, Evangelism, General Bible and Post Graduate in Theology from the Bible Church of Christ Theological Institute located in the Bronx, NY. Through his scholastic achievement, he is a graduate of SCS School of Computer Studies and TCI Technical Career Institute where he studied consumer electronics. While serving as a Junior Minister at the Bible Truth Church of God in New York, NY, and with a divine calling to a greater ministry, he was appointed and ordained a Minister by the late Bishop Leon A. Bynoe, Presiding Bishop of the Bible Truth Church of God, New York, where he served as an Assistant Pastor. He then assumed the Pastoral Ministry at Bronx Bible Truth Church of God. After serving at Bible Truth Church of God in 1993, he accepted a Pastoral Ministry at the Community Gospel Truth Church of God, Bronx, NY. While at Community Gospel Truth Church of God, his ministry grew tremendously with various ministry programs and activities such as Sunday School, Evangelism and Children's Ministry throughout the week. Soon after, he was appointed and ordained an Overseer of the Community Gospel Church of God. After serving this church, in May of 2010, Overseer Morrison decided to take his ministry in a different direction. With the blessings from the Presiding Bishop of the Community Gospel Truth Church of God and the Almighty God, he planted the Greater Deliverance Church of God Ministries, Inc.
On May 9, 2010, Greater Deliverance Church of God Ministries conducted its first Sunday service at his home in The Bronx, NY with a group of forty-five members and youths. A week later, Sunday morning services were conducted at a rented auditorium at a Middle School in Bronx, NY. Less than two years later, Church Services were conducted in a rented building at 706 East 215th Street, Bronx, NY, and in December 2015, the 52 West Kingsbridge Road, Mount Vernon, NY property was purchased.
